Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman from the United States. The current president is and controlling shareholder of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss is a native of California and grew up as part of a wealthy family. Jerry Buss is her father. He was an estate tycoon and later manager of Lakers, among other businesses. Her feelings of abandonment were heightened after her parents split in 1972. At the age of 19 she inherited her role as General Manager of the Los Angeles Strings professional Tennis team as General Manager. After that, she established in the Los Angeles Blades team of professional roller hockey. She first served as vice president of Lakers prior to taking over the position of president of the Great Western Forum. Buss her father passed away in 2013 as did the Lakers were inherited from him by Buss and her five siblings by way of the trust. Each sibling had an equal number of votes. Buss assumed the role of president of Los Angeles Lakers. Buss has also been a part-owner of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling organization).
