His career as a skater alongside Denis Samokhin that made him famous. In 1993, they was 8th at the Junior World Championships and in 1994 they were 7th. She briefly collaborated along with Maxim Kachanov and they were eventually placed 5 in during the 1994 Goodwill Games she then teamed together in a partnership with Vladimir Fedorov in 1995. This partnership also proved to be successful, as the pair received the Finlandia Trophy on two occasions as well as competing at the Grand Prix of Figure Skating. They achieved great results together However, it was their 15th place in the World Championships in 1998 that set the bar for the friendship.
